Blowhole owes its name to the blowing effect that occurs when water is expelled through the hole. The height and strength of the jet can vary depending on sea conditions, but on rough seas or with strong waves, the spectacle can be impressive, with water rising several meters into the air. The Hoyo Soplador in San Andrés Isla is one of the region's most prominent natural attractions. This geological phenomenon is located on the island's southern coast and consists of a hole in the limestone rock that connects to an underground cave. When waves crash against the shore, water is pushed through the hole and rises in a spectacular jet of water and air.
Visitors can easily reach the Hoyo Soplador by taxi from downtown San Andrés. Once at the site, there are natural lookout points where the phenomenon can be safely observed. However, it is important to exercise caution and maintain a safe distance, as the expelled water can be quite powerful.
