First Baptist Church, considered the oldest in San Andrés, dates back to 1847. The temple was built using pine wood brought from the state of Alabama in the southern United States. Located in the La Loma neighborhood on Single Hill, the highest point on the island, which serves as a viewpoint offering a panoramic view of the entire island. Additionally, the church can be spotted from the center of San Andrés.
It is characterized by its red roof and typical island infrastructure. Every Sunday, the locals elegantly make their way there to attend religious celebrations. While the Baptist Church might go unnoticed by some tourists passing through the island, for its residents, it represents their primary faith, and its gospel music resounds powerfully on every corner.
